Advocates push options for parents to demand turnaround of low-performing schools, while critics say the laws could undermine public education.

Do you feel that your school district just won’t change and that it is not meeting the needs of your children?  Parent trigger laws are a way of changing a poorly performing school in a district into a charter school that they have more input regarding the needs of their children.  This is following the changes in addressing the needs of children with learning and other special needs that resulted in IDEA.  Parents are needed to be the voices of their children, since they know them better than any government agency or district.  If you can’t get change from working within the system, you can work by changing the system like this.
